According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey exported roughly 220,000 tons of hot-rolled coil (HRC) in December 2020, soaring by 46.6% from the previous month while going down by 2.8% from the same period a year ago. The export value was around US$120 million, hiking by 57.9% from last month and 20.1% year on year.
Among them, Turkey exported approximately 71,000 tons to Italy, going up by 6.5% year on year. The top three destinations included Portugal (about 40,000 tons), South Africa (about 37,000 tons), and Egypt (about 20,000 tons).
In 2020, Turkey totaled exported nearly 2.6 million tons of HRC, falling by 15.6% from 2019. The export value was about US$1.2 billion, decreasing by 13.5% year on year. Italy was the largest destination with about 900,000 tons.
