According to the reports, ArcelorMittal Italia restarted the No. 2 blast furnace of the Taranto plant on January 26, and it also restarted the No. 1 smelter this week.
This could increase crude steel production to 5 million tons in 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the steel demand decreased significantly last year. The No. 2 blast furnace and No. 1 smelting plant were temporarily closed.
There were only No. 1 and No. 4 blast furnaces in full capacity among the company’s five blast furnaces and the two blast furnaces could produce 14,000 tons of crude steel a day.
